Adopting From Little Eepers Rattery
Our Adoption Protocol
Here at Little Eepers Rattery we want to ensure all our rats (babies and rescues) go to the best of homes. This helps increase the likely hood of it being their forever home. All potential owners are sent a Questionaire regarding the housing and care the rats will recieve. Once our litters hit the two week mark and we know the colours and markings we then choose what we think will be the best homes for them judging by the completed questionaires.
All selected owners will then need to fill in an adoption contract on picking up their new rats:

Any rats adopted from Little Eepers Rattery must be fed on quality food in the form of lab blocks or a quality mix (either homemade, NZRR or LER branded food), not on supermarket or pet shop rat food.
The rats must be provided with a cage with a minimum of 1.5ft square area each. The cage must be positioned indoors in a place that is safe for rats, away from draughts and predators.
Pine, cedar, sawdust, dirt or clay litter are not to be used with rats. Paper litter, Aspen, Carefresh, Newspaper or Fabric are all acceptable.
The rats are not to be bred from unless given prior written approval in the form of a stud or breeding contract from Little Eepers Rattery. If accidental breeding occurs Little Eepers Rattery must be contacted as soon as possible, where if required we reserve the right to reclaim ownership over the adopted rats and their offspring if an e-spay is not an option.
The rats must be provided with at least one friend of either the same sex or opposite de-sexed for the duration of it's life. Exceptions to this are if the companion dies and the rat will not accept another rats company.
All rats must be provided with adequate vet care when required. Any illness, aggression, tumor, surgery or death is to be reported to Little Eepers Rattery promptly to ensure records are kept up to date.
No rats are to be rehomed without prior approval from Little Eepers Rattery. Contact must be made before rehoming so Little Eepers Rattery can ensure they go to a good home. If Little Eepers Rattery does not agree to the new home, the rats must be returned to us at the expense of the owner.
Little Eepers Rattery must be informed of changes of address, email and phone number. This ensures we can keep in contact and be sure we only breed quality rats.
Failure to abide by the above specifications can result in any or all rats adopted from Little Eepers Rattery to be returned to us at owners expense.
